IPTIF’s Advanced-Level Short-Term Online Course on Fatigue Life & Durability Analysis

Program Overview

The Advance-level Course on Fatigue Life & Durability Analysis is designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of fatigue mechanisms, life prediction methodologies, and practical approaches to durability analysis.

This interactive course combines theory with MATLAB-based simulations and industry-relevant case studies, enabling participants to visualize, simulate, and analyze fatigue behavior under various dynamic loading conditions such as vibration and shock.

Participants will learn how to estimate fatigue life and durability with accuracy, applying both time and frequency domain analysis methods and using cycle counting techniques relevant for real-world applications.

Who Can Attend

This course is designed for participants from both academia and industry, including:

  • Mechanical, Automotive, and Aerospace Engineers
  • Design & Simulation Engineers
  • Masters students, Research Scholars and Faculty Members
  • Testing and Validation Professionals

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of shock, vibration and fatigue mechanisms.
  • Perform fatigue life estimation using time and frequency domain analysis.
  • Apply rainflow and other cycle counting methods for fatigue assessment.
  • Evaluate vibration and shock response using fatigue damage spectra (FDS).
  • Develop MATLAB-based simulation models for fatigue prediction.
  • Interpret durability test data and correlate simulation with real-world results.

Prerequisites

Participants are expected to have:

  • B Tech (Final Semester) / M-Tech (Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, Aerospace)
  • Basic understanding of shock and vibration analysis
  • Familiarity with probability theories
  • Knowledge of general structural dynamic analysis concepts
  • Interest in predicting fatigue life of products under dynamic stress conditions
