Design and Development of an Intervention-class Underwater Robotic Vehicle with Tilting Thrusters for Marine Applications

The earth is covered with 70 percent of water, yet humans could explore only 05 percent of oceans and 01 percent of the ocean surface with great uncertainty. On the other hand, space technology advanced to a level where rovers could land on Mars and leave the footprints of man on the moon. This is due to many reasons, such as an unstructured, hostile marine environment makes it difficult to understand and especially exploring these areas is expensive and time-consuming. In the recent past, intervention-class autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) have gained the ocean/marine research community’s attention due to their multidisciplinary operational capabilities. Tilting thruster configurations effectively results in overall performance and helps achieve more independent controllable inputs than the required degrees of freedom.
